Hooligan’s Holiday
With their Hard Rock residency, Mötley Crüe have three weeks to make all their demented dreams come true
February 2nd, 2012
"I was able to get Vince Neil for tomorrow at 10 a.m. Are you available?" The instant that e-mail hit my inbox, I laughed. Am I available at 10 a.m.? Shouldn’t I be asking if Vince will be available? After all, rock stars aren’t exactly known for early wake-up calls, particularly rock stars who front a band that’s known as much—if not more—for its offstage indulgences as its onstage performances. Walk Like a Man
After leaving the cast of Jersey Boys, Rick Faugno is still seeking solo success—this time at the Palms
February 2nd, 2012
When Rick Faugno took his final bow in Jersey Boys at the Palazzo in October, he left on a veritable high note, having earned rave reviews for his portrayal of the Four Seasons’ falsetto frontman, Frankie Valli. The performer, who jokes that he “became famous in Vegas for singing like a girl,” gave it up to focus on his own classic Vegas lounge-style show, Body & Soul. Read more »

Beyond 15 Minutes
Thanks to fame online, 2Cellos’ talent extends to the stage
February 2nd, 2012
Normally, YouTube bestows its 15 minutes of stardom upon talentless daredevils and shameless pranksters. But cellists Luka Šulić, 25, and Stjepan Hauser, 24, broke the norm—they actually have talent. In January 2011, these two friends from Croatia, who go by the name 2Cellos, appeared out of the blue with a four-minute and five-second YouTube clip, and their life has never been the same. Punk-rock flower power

It’s February and love is in the air, so let me tell you about a punk-rock fairy tale. I mean, is there anything more punk than a free wedding? I don’t think so. Read more »
Showstopper
Can’t wait till AVN 2013?
February 2nd, 2012
From the outskirts, it might look like a regular night of karaoke in Vegas—a dark, smoky lounge with sticky floors, filled with middle-aged drunk people, ass-bearing sparkly sequined miniskirts, a couple of creepers hidden in the corners and off-key ballads belted from the stage. What’s different about “Karaoke XXX,” though, is that half of those people are porn stars who are popping bottles, getting a little provocative with their fans and each other and maybe singing karaoke. Tour Buzz
February 2nd, 2012
Wow, I haven’t thought of Cherry Poppin’ Daddies in years. True, the Eugene, Ore.-based ska/swing band is very nearly the definition of a one-hit wonder, but “Zoot Suit Riot” was one hell of a hit—the best of the late ’90s swing revival—and besides, it’s not every band that earns itself a Weird Al Yankovic parody. Brad Paisley
Mandalay Bay Events Center, Jan. 28
February 2nd, 2012
On the Las Vegas stop of his Virtual Reality tour, Paisley gave more than a great musical performance. The 39-year-old award-winner also offered many laughs. “Celebrity” came with jokes about Kim Kardashian’s 72-day marriage and Charlie Sheen’s “winning” moments. And when introducing the song, “I’m Still a Guy,” Paisley riffed on female television-watching habits. Read more »

Social Distortion
The Joint, Jan. 27
February 2nd, 2012
Founding frontman Mike Ness, just two months shy of his 50th birthday, hit the stage looking like a tattooed, guitar-wielding Tony Soprano in all black but for white suspenders, and the band came out guns blazing with alt-rock classics “Bad Luck,” “So Far Away” and “Story of My Life.” Read more »

Thinking Man vs. Wild
Director Joe Carnahan gives an actual human element to this masculine survival tale
February 2nd, 2012
The title 8 Million Ways to Die was already taken, so The Grey had to settle for The Grey, named for the plus-size wolves waging war on the desperate human survivors of an Alaskan wilderness plane crash. Tough situation. Frostbite. Wolf bite. Drowning. Falling from great heights. Harsh outcomes abound for both man and beast. Read more »
