Best Guitarist

Deadhand frontman Brendan Scholz cultivates the look of a dim punk rocker (nice face tattoo of a spider, dude), but don’t judge this 25-year-old fret-board-shredding book by its cover. Scholz, who until recently worked in a guitar shop, is a cross between Randy Rhoads (Ozzy Osbourne) and James Williamson (Iggy and the Stooges). With his 1969 black Les Paul custom, this six-string wizard does everything—arpeggiated runs, pinch harmonics. Pays to pick up the ax at age 9, right?

Catch Deadhand 10 p.m. July 29, at Beauty Bar with Dude City.
