New spa fixes for your whole self

It’s not just diets that are skewing toward overall health. Detoxifying scrubs, Ayurvedic journeys and chakra balancing treatments are now commonplace spa offerings.

A version of lymphatic massage that’s become popular out East has made it to the Strip, thanks to the new Mandarin Oriental spa, which offers a two-hour Contour and Firm treatment that incorporates lymph drainage therapy. (At CityCenter; mandarinoriental.com/lasvegas; $320 Mon.-Thurs.). Mandarin Oriental’s signature therapy ($380) seeks to balance your yin and yang, not just massage sore muscles. And Qua Baths & Spa at Caesars Palace has an entire wellness series, including one-on-one time with a certified hypnotist (harrahs.com/qua; $130). We’re not entirely sure about the latter, but Julie Deignan, the lead massage therapist at Green Valley Ranch, says there are real benefits from marine-based treatments, like the spa’s Seaweed Wrap (greenvalleyranchresort.com/spa; from $200). Thalassotherapy works to remove toxins through the stimulation of the body’s metabolism and to re-mineralize the body, replenishing stores of iodine, iron, copper and zinc. Not to mention the fact that it’s less alienating than drinking your food for a week.
