Get your swings in this summer at indoor batting cages

Looking to blow off some steam? Or maybe you’re just seeking some indoor recreation to escape the heat. Here is a two-word solution: batting cages.

While the number of facilities has dwindled in recent years, there are still a few places throughout the Valley to come inside and hone your swing.

Bat-R-Up (3040 Simmons St. in North Las Vegas; 647-3844), has 15 cages with machines ranging in speed from 35 to 85 mph, and counts Philadelphia Phillies All-Star outfielder Shane Victorino as one of its clients.

On Deck Baseball Academy (4145 N. Rancho Dr., Suite 110; 629-3325), offers hitting and pitching opportunities within its 11,000-square-foot facility, with instruction available from former major league hitting coach Mike “The Hitman” Easler.

The Dugout (6231 McLeod Dr., Suite L; 478-5125), has 10 cages available to take hacks at pitches ranging in speed from 50 to 85 mph, with four-time National League batting champion Bill Madlock on the property nearly every day to provide hitting tips.
